Art Therapy Class and Legal Consultation
News
Since last March, we have begun art therapy sessions for a
migrant woman and her child. We held this program for 2days a week and now it
has come to its closing session. The father has been convicted of domestic
violence and is currently serving time in prison. The child is to go back to
his grandparents and the mother will stay so that she can work and send money
to her family. Had we not helped this family, the child would have lived on
with so much anger in his heart. But now, he has gotten much better. We hope
that everything turns out for the best for this family.
Meanwhile, some urgent legal consultation was sought for last
month. A Vietnam woman’s husband passed away in a car accident. Without legal
help, she had no choice but to close her husband’s restaurant. She must make a
living through this restaurant, so she was desperate. When she contacted us, we
at first introduced her to a migrant women’s support center, but she was too
busy to visit them. As she continued to reach out to us for help, we found a
translator and lawyer who could carry out legal consultation and offered her
some legal advice and solutions.
We are always grateful for your volunteer work and
sponsorship. Migrant women and multicultural families need your continued
attention in order to adapt and adjust to our society. Thank you.
